Train exhibit coming to Historical Museum

Train1a Chief Engineer, Ray Graham, is leading a volunteer gaggle of residents, who are creating a model train exhibit of old Elk Rapids at the Historical Museum. Graham and the others have spent countless hours in the Township Hall basement installing track, building authentic structures and testing train operation. Incorporating the existing model of the old iron works, this new exhibit depicts the working railroad of our bygone era.

Ongoing projects include models of the library bridge, oar dock, Elk River railroad bridge and town buildings.

Come visit the museum now to see this project under construction. Graham expects to be finished, if ‘finishing’ is ever possible for such dedicated modelers, some time this summer.
