Imagination Library – a possibility for Elk Rapids?

Becky Davis, Eastern Upper Peninsula Coordinator for the Imagination Library project, spoke at the library today about the successful pre-school literacy jprogram there, and how it might work here. Among those attending were Jill Murphy, the Early Childhood Programs Director for Elk Rapids School District and Sarah Ward, village mother.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library provides a book per month for every enrolled child from birth to the fifth birthday. The local-matching-funds cost for the project is only $30 per child.
It is possible that the schools will work with the greater Elk Rapids community to bring this literacy program to us.
