Rotary helps Afghan scholar Fazal Rabani

From Norm Veliquette:

FazalRabaniAs some of you may recall, we learned about the predicament of the Afghan teacher/scholar Fazal Rabani when he was here.  While support for his family back home has broken down due to social unrest, finishing his degree in the U.S. requires an unexpected additional semester of classwork (which is being arranged for him in San Diego, CA).

Here is a place for venture capital, as Fazal desperately needs help.  As Rotarians, we set him upon this journey.  We should feel an opportunity and a sense of responsibility to see it through.  Please join me in writing tax deductible gifts to “La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club Foundation” to benefit our 6290 Rotary Scholar Fazal Rabani.  I will collect checks at the December 3 meeting and send them enmass to PDG Chris Etienne in Petoskey where she will accumulate them with other donations for forwarding to La Jolla,  ultimately to benefit scholar Rabani and our Rotary effort on the ground in Afghanistan.  (email from N.V.)

If any community members, who are not Rotarians, wish to donate, contact Norm Veliquette.
