Township appoints Tom Palmer as trustee

TownshipAt tonight’s Township Board meeting, local resident Tom Palmer was appointed to fill the vacancy created by Conrad Reiter’s resignation. Palmer has lived full time in the area since 1999, is a lawyer by training, has had a long career in business and has served on several boards, both for-profit and non-profit. Locally he was part of the effort to build Government Center and has been part of the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.

In other business, the board approved several resolutions concerning ambulance officers, EMS operating guidelines as well as salaries for Township staff. James Lundy was appointed to the Fire Board replacing Jack White who retired.

The Township board deferred until next month a resolution brought by the Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall Association (HERTHA) to extend the current operating agreement between HERTHA and the Township from two to five years.
