Antrim Review reports on EZ Mart

EZ_MartPrior to the February 15 public hearing, the Antrim Review has run a lengthy story on the Blarney Castle Oil Company application to build a large EZ Mart store in Elk Rapids at the corner of First Street and U.S. 31.

Plans call for a 5000 square foot building, which would house an “EZ Mart” convenience store, and five gas pump islands with two gas pumps on each island, for a total of 10 gas pumps, with accompanying underground gasoline storage tanks, the ZA said. In an impact assessment review, Blarney Castle has said the new business would employ one full time salaried manager, seven full time hourly employees, and two part time hourly employees, as well as three full time hourly employees and one part time employee in the deli shop.   Antrim Review Several previous postings

  1. Today I received this comment from Greg Reisig:

The project does not fit with our master plan. There are many questions about traffic coming onto First St. from 31 – concern about stormwater discharge to wetlands connected to Elk River…..concern about too much pavement. This is not a good use of this particular piece of property in our village. We can do better.
