There is a move afoot to allow Michiganders to carry Tasers, a non-lethal alternative to handguns.
The bill, currently in the state Senate and expected to pass by summer, would allow people to carry so-called citizen Tasers if they take a training course, have no record of felonies or mental issues, and meet the other requirements for a concealed weapons permit. MLive
I seem to be in the minority here – concerned about indiscriminate use of Tasers in public and thinking that this is a bad idea. One big concern: What will be the operational definition of “no record of mental issues?”
I’d feel better if the legislation also restricted the use of handguns, but that is not happening. So now, supposedly, folks could carry both.
