Possibly one of the all-time greatest ironies in Michigan education arose recently, to wit:
Gov. Rick Snyder announced a new state office last week to coordinate Michigan programs related to early childhood education, six years after Gov. Jennifer Granholm created a nonprofit corporation to play a similar role. Detroit News
Regarding education reform: A Republican governor creates a state office; a Democratic governor creates a corporation (albeit nonprofit). How will ideologues cope?
For me, the good news is that Education is even on the Michigan agenda now, given all the budget cutting emphasis. How this proposal makes it through the Lansing wrangle should be interesting to behold.
